if KEYBOARDS can talk

Someone has asked me why I blog, In an instant, I answered that blogging is one way of releasing boredom and stress. A reason I so do believe strongly. As a joke, I said that as a blogger, I am giving my keyboards a chance to talk.

If my laptop keyboards can really talk, what would it possibly be talking about now?

- It will definitely complain about how people typed Facebook statuses in SMS forms and not giving chances for other keys getting clicked. That using “ur” instead of “your” or “you’re” is actually reducing the keys five times its chance to function.

- It will talk about how Twitter only allows 160 or so characters when “twitting” is suppose to be endless.

- It will talk about how annoying it is to hear a cellphone conversation in a bus ride when the talker is practically screaming and cares less for the rest of the passengers to hear their conversation because the device was set to a speaker phone in such full volume.

- It will talk about how irritating it is to approach an information desk and whoever sits there will answer “I don’t know” when they are suppose to know because that is what information is all about.

- It will talk about how refreshing it is to see someone smile at you regardless if they are strangers or otherwise.

- It will talk about how routine it is for Customer Service Representatives to say “I’m sorry for the inconvenience”  when a call is about any malfunction when clearly they are not sorry at all and was just saying it because it is a protocol.

- It will talk about how awesome it is to have virtual friends. Personal Messages, Electronic notifications, IMs, tweets, comments and likes may seem so impersonal but one will always appreciate that an effort to reach out was done.

- It will talk about being yourself. About not to ever be afraid to show who you really are for as long as you are happy with yourself, and you are not hurting anyone, no one else’s opinions matter.

- It will talk about if only our tongues are made of thin and delicate sheets of glass, how much careful we would have when we talk and speak.

- It will talk about how we will not always get what we want and bitching about it will frustrates us more.

Laptop keyboard will talk about a lot of things that lips can’t express. Because sometimes, it is good to stay quiet and endure the peace and hearing only the clicking keys translating the brain’s ideas….. even if nobody will ever get to read them.

Whether I like or not…. it is time for FACEBOOK TIMELINE!!

Don’t you think the profile owner should have at least a choice with regards to the preference of Facebook Timeline?

I was notified months ago and ignoring it is making me keep my old Facebook profile viewing option, hence I let it stay that way and never click the “Get Timeline Now’ button.

Certainly, not for long. I was out during the day for important errands. I was eager to fire up my computer and get the on-line society active. I am always happy to see the red colored number by the notifications for Facebook. May it be a game invite, an application message, comments and likes prompts, as long as it is a notification, it surely excites me. It means people remember you and left a notification to let you know they drop by or sent you something.

Earlier, I was informed that my Facebook Timeline is ready. I actually don’t like the timeline. I know it needs time for me to get used to the new feature but like others, I just don’t like the TIMELINE. Period.

The voice that keeps calling is getting louder. The ideas are flooding like how the South West monsoon rains has caused Philippines to flood and to suffer. I have talked about the thought a while back and thinking about it doesn’t seem to stop now.

I wanted to start a new site solely for book reviews. I don’t know if it is a good idea, I am not sure if I am qualified enough do such. All I know is, often times I ended up with something to say after I read books.

Rev, who is a very good friend of mine shared a dream with me about putting up a library in our hometown someday. It was just a topic during our chats over miles across yet I seem to hold on to that particular conversation. We both have collections of books we acquired and we thought it would be nice to let others who can’t afford( I didn’t say that we are well off  enough to easily to buy those) to be able to enjoy the books that we have come to love. We learned so much through reading and we enjoyed this passion. We made the school library a place to hang-out in our free time, in between classes and laboratory sessions during college days. The deadly looks of the pouting, old-maid librarian gave us and our friends every time we enter the library still creates a clear picture on my mind. The worn-out, poorly painted table at the center of the periodicals section, where we love to sit may still have my name underneath  that I wrote defying the rules against vandalism. Yes, we love the library. Not because it has most of the reading materials that we love, not because we can find  the references that we need, which we can’t, as it is incomplete by all means, but because for the lamest reason that the library is air-conditioned. It is conducive for reading and it has wide tables that we can use when we did our Histopathology drawings of everything we get to see under the microscope.

The library is a plan that is impossible to materialized as of the moment. But the habit of reading never stopped. We are not college students anymore that we can hang-out at the library or stay up late at nights in the dormitory to discuss books and other interesting topics such as sex and boys(whatever!). The technology has improved so much that domains are created. Why not make use of these innovations? Blogging has been a good outlet for me to relieve stress, hence, why not make it another outlet to get the passion of reading and publishing gets going.

I want this and I hope to heavens I can do it!

When it rains……

It floods.

Weather reports has been telling us that  another  low pressure forming in the Inter-tropical Convergence Zone or ITCZ within Philippines area of responsibility with a possibility of transforming into a typhoon and surely to be causing all the heavy rains and flooding in the most of Greater Manila Area and some provinces in Northern Luzon.Typhoon Gener hasn’t left yet so what is up with that?

In connection to the rain resulting to flood; Here is my story….

I was unemployed for many months. Years already to count it right. I got hired to do book reviews and web research a week ago by Creative Freelance and everything is doing so well. Two days ago, Performance Marketing Inc., offered me a Writer/Researcher post and the current project has something to do with children’s reference material. A generous hourly rate with flexible working hours is being emphasized which is difficult for me to turn it down.

This morning, my work dashboard inbox has its flashing red colored envelope with a superscript number 4 telling me that I have four messages which almost always tells me  good news, otherwise a declined job application or a withdrawn contract  will appear at the notification tab and not in the inbox.

Overwhelming as it is, I have additional four job invitations. A proofreading job offer on a 10,000 to 16,000 word e-book project with a fix rate. An hourly rate data entry job. A technical writing and research for a publishing company in an hourly rate for an estimated 3-month period and another fix-rate invitation to web content provider for a travel agency.

It is flooding.

Once in a while, I know I rant about how I declined overseas job interviews and offers for a Medical Technology work for about twenty of the hospitals in the middle-east together with their respective recruitment agencies. Bragging aside, I believe the medical technology profession or now known as Medical Laboratory Science Officer is still among the most sought after and in demand profession worldwide. I was scared for a while and quite depressed I should say, that I became one of the career-less women in the population. I was scared that when the time comes, that I am ready to go back to the world of working women, doors will be closed as they have long gone waited for me and had enough of my act of telling them the bitter words of “NO THANKS”.

I always find myself contemplating all the time of what the media has been telling us about unemployment rates getting higher every day and economies dropping like heavy rainfall.  Because of what we always hear on the news, I was afraid that opportunity got tired knocking and would slam the door in my face. I guess, I am wrong at the thought.

I realized, there will always be an opportunity as long as nobody will never stop trying.

I realized, the answer is always NO when nobody seems to be asking.

I realized, I will never get anywhere if I will not make a single move one at a time.

I realized, a hardworking man will never have a hard time finding work.

Finally, I realized that LAZINESS means unemployment.

I am a reader, I know I am always be. I didn’t dream of becoming a writer. I never consider myself one but I can’t say no to something I know I can do and if I will put my heart to it, I might  become better at it. I wasn’t a techno geek and I didn’t own a computer or laptop not until four years ago or should I say not until WCW gave it to me as a Christmas present. I know how to use one and I am pretty literate and knowledgeable enough to make it work. Just enough to make it work also doesn’t mean I can learn something to keep it going. I went online to hang around Facebook and play Farmville. I told myself, I can’t just waste my time and money paying power bills and monthly internet connection fee playing Farmville and earns nothing. The laptop should be a working tool and not a dead investment.

Staying-at-home and becoming a full time mother is a choice but unemployment that comes with it is never an option. I salute the SAHM and women of the blogging world who in one way or another inspired me to do the best of my abilities in any situation. There is always something to do for a living without having to feel the pressure of working so hard. All  we need to do is look around and bring out the best of ourselves.

Because…

Opportunity sometimes knocks softly but it will never stop knocking.

EROTICA REVIEWS- all of it

I recently accepted a job offer as a book reviewer for a writer and publisher. You guess it right! I am once again employed. I actually don’t see it as a job. Reading is my passion and like they always said, once you love what you are doing , you never feel you are working at all aside from being paid for having fun.

This isn’t the first time I was offered to do a book review. Not always but mostly, I don’t get paid but I will get the book for free which is fair enough for me. I do honest, unbiased  reviews that will benefit the readers.

I am fond of:

• Contemporary Romance – because it is always an easy read and I find it relaxing
• Suspense / Thriller – very selective but I will never pass the opportunity when I get my hands to it
• YA – because it is always nice to feel young at heart
• Paranormal – selective ones
• Children’s Books – only the ones I can read with my children
• Sci fi/Fantasy – Romance related only
• Series –specially the middle-grade books and few of the dystopian literature
• memoirs- reading only those that were recommended by friends

 

EROTICA- not the first time to read literature of this specific genre. Not really a favorite kind of genre but since I was asked for a review, I guess I have to indulge on flipping pages with it. I was actually surprise that there are talented authors who can write a very good plot with full details of romance and erotica for that matter. I ignored this kind of novels before as I always see it a “wham-bam-thank-you-mam” kind of story , fortunately not all. With that, I decide to include erotica on my list this time around. Not to mention that there are lots of erotica writers who seeks for book lovers as reviewers. Hey!- I am available!

I was thinking of creating another blog site solely for book reviews. I can set review policy and maybe I can invite some of my favorite fellow book lovers who might want to contribute with the reviews. Sound like a plan but not so definite yet.

Seven things about me:

 This blog is basically telling you all about me and my routine. I don’t think I will be able to share UNKNOWN things about my self. I have to discover them first.  Anything new? Well, let’s see….

- I’m still struggling to loose as much weight as I can. In fact, this issue isn’t even new at all. But, it is something I wish to constantly succeed and to maintain keeping the success.

- I still pretty much remember people’s birthdays- with or without the help of Facebook birthday reminder. I love greeting people on their birthdays. Life is good and we should live every bit of it to it’s fullest. An additional year means we lived the past year and will be looking forward to another year of great life. For the people who felt the past year was a mess, a birthday  will surely give hope to surpass it.

- I always thought motherhood is not for me and  believed I suck big  time portraying such role. Being a mom is the toughest job on Earth! I met other parents around my circle and I’ve heard the same struggles they went through everyday. To see other “horrible” kids’ attitude, harder to manage and control than my own kids’ made me realize that  I, after all did a pretty good job. So, Motherhood can be such a pain in the a**, but the self satisfaction it offers is the best and nothing comes close! (aside of course, great sex and love making with the one you love is also a thumbs-up in another category)

- I want to go back to school  but not sure what to study this time. I also wanted to learn more about  SEARCH ENGINE OPTIMAZION (SEO) and hopes to be really good at it. I’m currently searching for easy and free tutorials online. Recommendations? Anyone?

- Crazy for books- still is, and this isn’t new too.

- I envy craft genius people. They are such talented individuals with hands and minds that are so good with designs and ideas. Wish I can be one- trying but not happening,…never happened.

- I received a death-threat from a no-good jerk. The mean, worthless prick  was drunk and chose me of all people, who is half the globe away from him, who almost never interacts with him, as a target for such dumb bull shitting over Facebook Private Messages. Talking about cyber-bullying! I blocked him already. Lesson learned, even if the person was a good acquaintance or you may have shared a joke or two in the past, if they are known to be such an a**h**le most of the time, NEVER EVER add them as friends or accept friend requests because once a retard will always stay retarded for the rest of their life.(pardon me for all the not-so-impressive adjectives, I can’t help it.)

- I know it is hard to achieve if your talking about WORLD PEACE, but YES, I do believe in Peace. A good heart and clean conscience makes it easier to believe in PEACE.

- Hmmm.. It depends on WHO is the someone you are referring to. I admit, I do have my own share of “doubts” with regards to my existence on “someone” but so far…. I never had time to stressing out and trying to know where I stand. People I am close with does that for me by making me feel my worth.

3. What do you think is the easiest job?

- Working on something you truly enjoy and have come to love… one will never get tired of it that doing it would come easy.

4. Have you ever truly accept people without complaining or judging why you make friends with them?

- Yeah…. most of the time.

5. What is your best recipe?

- I never had one.

- Sure… If I ever got one.

7. Would you do the right thing? Or choose to do things which your heart completely desires?

- It depends…. I always go for doing the right thing. Fortunately, it goes together with what my heart completely desires most of the time.

- Been there, done that. I don’t call it argue but just trying to make people hear me out. As long as it is of pure honesty, then I don’t think it will result to relationships ending, It might change, for sure it will be giving both party a peace of mind.

- A coconut. Never worthless.

10. How will survive from where you are now?

- I don’t think I am where I need to survive right now…. I call this living.

11. Letting go or to wait? Why?

- Let Go. Because if it comes back to you , then you will know it is worth all the wait. If it does not, it will always feel good to know Letting Go was the right decision.

LOVE to LOVE

Today is Valentines Day. The celebration of expressing the most powerful emotion and feeling of all–LOVE. Like I have said in my previous hearts day posts, I will be away from the love of my life for this year’s Vday but it will never make such difference as everyday for us is a Valentines day. From the very start of us being together, Husband dear writes emails to me everyday. I admit, I am the not-romantic-non-expressive-other-half of the heart in our relationship and reading his emails everyday always melts me inside and longs for our moments together and dreads the time being apart. Most times he is overseas and to see his name in my inbox and reading the lines of his emails is one of the highlights of my day to day routine. I will never ever get tired of getting an email from him.

If one truly loves and being loved, expressing this powerful emotion is constant and spontaneous and doesn’t occur on every 14th day of February only, regardless of distance or time difference. For today’s post, there is no greater idea than to show you all how everyday seems to be a Valentines Day for me.

These are the very few, among the many heartfelt lines on Husband dear’s everyday emails that I will never ever get tired of reading.

      

I don’t pretend to know what love is for everyone, but I can tell you what it is for me; love is knowing all about someone and that is you and still wanting to be with you more than any other person, love is trusting you fully and to tell you everything , including the things you  or I might be ashamed of, love is feeling comfortable and safe with someone, but still getting my knees weak when I walk into a room and you smile at me

Out of everything I have done in my lifetime, having you as my wife is the greatest achievement of all. When we first met, I was already in love at first sight but never dreamed that my dream would come true and you would have me as much as I wanted you. The day I put that ring on your finger was the greatest day of my life. That is why I kept tearing up at the dinner after the wedding. I knew my life was changing for the better. I finally have the life full of love and the most beautiful wife in the world.

There has to be a God as he has blessed me with a beautiful Pinoy family. A family that loves me as much as I love you all. Life is like a book and its full of chapters being written with each and every year that goes by. And out of all the chapters in my book of life the best chapters started when I met you Cel and the book will end up being one of the greatest love story ever so written. It will have tests and difficulties  that life will throw at us but our love for one another will always prevail. We will always to be together forever as husband and wife and family.
