iPhone 5….. worth it or not?

I guess no matter how innovative  and technologically improve the world is today, human race still believe that the recently launched Apple iPhone5 simply isn’t enough. I don’t have iPhone5 actually that’s why I am saying human race thinks so. However, let me share an article from Yahoo about iPhone5 product review.

8 Things the iPhone 5 Still Can’t Do

In terms of specs, performance, and features, the iPhone 5 is Apple’s best to date. This doesn’t mean it’s as good as it could be, however.

There were a few egregious omissions from the keynote presentation – features that we not only want in our iPhone, but that we feel are overdue.

NFC for iPhone5(Patently Apple)NFC for mobile payments

Instead of building NFC into the iPhone, Apple would rather have you use its Passbook system, which lets lets users store tickets, gift cards, boarding passes, and the like.

It can handle some (but definitely not all) of the tasks that you might use NFC for. For example, you can’t use Passbook to wirelessly send money to a friend via PayPal.

NFC also lets you beam content between devices just by tapping them together. Samsung’s Galaxy S III takes advantage of this feature.

iPhone5 keyboard(Swype)An improved texting solution on the keyboard, like Swype

Swype is something of a mainstay on Android phones. Instead of tapping out your texts letter by letter, you can drag your finger over them without lifting it. The end result is that you get your message out much more quickly.

iPhone5 capacity(Flickr via johnmuk)SD card support for extra storage

We’d like to be able to extend our device’s storage capability beyond the 64 GB maximum. History suggests that external SD card support isn’t going to be in a mobile Apple device any time soon.

iphone5 capacity, Steve Jobs(MadeMan)A 128 GB option

The iPod Classic offered users 160 GB of music and video capacity. Many people (ourselves included) had no problem filling it right up.

Now that the iPhone is an easy replacement for your old iPod, we’d love to be able to carry the same amount of content around with us without having to pick and choose what stays at home.

iPhone5 dock(Apple)Non-proprietary dock connection

We’ve never understood why our iPhones can’t use a standard USB port and a standard USB cable to sync. Now the iPhone 5 introduces a new micro-dock connection requiring the use of its own special cable.

If you want to use your old sync cables, you have to buy this $29 adapter.

iPhone5 cable(Apple)A micro-HDMI port

Once again, if you want to get video off of your phone, it requires the use of a special adapter. (Unless you buy a $99 Apple TV.) The Kindle Fire HD and several Android phones use a micro-HDMI port, letting you run a cable straight from your tablet to the television.

This makes it easier, better, and more affordable for the user.

iPhone5Replaceable battery

The battery life on the iPhone 5 has seen some nice improvements, but for the power users who are glued to their phones all day, it won’t suffice.

We’d love to be able to carry an additional fully-charged iPhone battery that we could pop in whenever the first one bites the dust.

(Ellis Hamburger, Business Insider) While we’re at it, better battery life!

The iPhone 5′s battery life is about the same as the iPhone 4S’. Yes, it has a bigger battery, but the new 4G LTE radio and bigger screen use up a lot of that extra power. We wish Apple had included a better battery in the iPhone 5 like the one on Motorola’s Droid Razr Maxx. The Razr Maxx can last several hours longer than the iPhone 5.

Come to think of it, no matter how packed with features the upgraded gadget is, no matter how this comes fully loaded with applications, one can’t really have it all.  If the thing can do all, there will be no competition among brands of companies. If one need not to ask for more, there will never be upgrades. Change is constant so long before those people gets tired of fidgeting iPhone5 in their hands, before we know it, launching of iPhone6 is scheduled. As the saying goes, “Nobody is Perfect” and so are the gadgets.

ready to give up the shelf?

I started reading a new book last night.  While doing it, I was online at the same time.  I recently (two months ago, actually) have a habit of posting a picture on my Facebook wall of myself with any new book that I just started reading using the webcam. Yes, you guessed it right. I took a picture before I start reading with last night’s new book.

Approaching the first ten pages, I realized the print is so small… TINY! I typed a comment on that particular book picture about its print being tiny that made my eyes wept with nails and popcorn as tears! Smile  I actually wrote the comment in Bisaya saying “Ka gagmay pud aning sulat sa libro oi, kahilak man sad tag lansang ug popcorn!” Two of my dear cousins were online as well. They suggested in their comments that  maybe it is time for me to get an Electronic reader. I have an idea about what it is but I actually don’t know what an E-reader is. They told me the basics about it. The other cousin suggested I could try to check this gadget called KINDLE at Amazon.com. I replied that it is not a priority at the moment but I would love to check the thing out and so I did. This KINDLE version caught my eye.

The KINDLE KEYBOARD 3G with free 3G wireless which enables the user to download books without having to search for wifi spots. It actually has the touchscreen version which seems to be the latest release. Since, I am not so fond of touchscreens I know I will not like that kind of KINDLE. I read users’ reviews posted and study its features, checked the cost and all those stuff. I find myself wanting to have one.

Mentally debating the pros and cons, the personal practice or being practical and frugal reigns. It is not urgent to possess one therefore it will be on my wish list along with all the other stuff that has been on that list for sometime already. It will be something to get used to though, the joys of reading a book includes flipping the pages while connecting and imagining the idea of what is being read. I have the habit too of copying quotes and favorite lines and collecting them by re-writing on my notepads. I underline this quotes and lines with colored pens and whenever I have the chance to read the book again, it will help me remember the feeling when reading it the first time. Doing this can bring back memories, specially the good ones! I stared at the pile of books beside me, I got quite a number for a collection already. Not to mention the Nancy Drew Series, River Heights, Sweet Valley, Sweet Dreams, Hardy Boys and Bobsey Twins collections that my sister and I have accumulated when we were younger. Those books were left neatly stacked and piled almost to the ceiling high at my grandmother’s house where I grew up.  I am fine without the E-reader, convincing myself that I am not ready to give up the shelf. Not yet. Smile

On the second thought….. I will be happy to find one inside my Christmas stocking this coming holiday Winking smile Wishful thinking Ha! Ha! For now, I am not ready to give up the shelf, particularly my bookshelf.

classic or modern

Notebook collection

If you were to choose where do you prefer to write your notes, would it be on a paper? or the gadget?

I have a little notebook that I usually call my power notebook. Whenever I need not to forget on something, I wrote it down on my power notebook. If I plan a vacation or something this power notebook of mine will never left my side. Scribbles, quick computations, telephone numbers, addresses, dates, contacts, and other specs on something are mostly on my power notebook. I also use my device but my iPod-touch isn’t just as convenient for me with regards to its size and besides if I need to take down notes on crowded places /slums ,I might just end up being snatched of my device :-)

an APPLE a day…

When I was young I always hear old folks say “An apple a day keeps the doctor away”. True to the words, an apple indeed is a good antioxidant and a good source of Vitamin C for body’s protection.

Over the years technology has improved and ruled the world. It gave the people options and choices how to live their lives. Among the remarkable impact of technology to the world if not considered the most was the rise of the APPLE Computer by Steven Jobs and friend Stephen Wozniak introducing to the people the possibility of a relationship to a personal computer. Thousands have seen their future  in different perspective. Their tandem has set the company to an innovation that change the technical world.

Steve Jobs, founder and former CEO of Apple Inc. told the world what we needed before we wanted it. He passed away last Wednesday, October 5, 2011 due to cancer leaving behind a legacy with his creative designs of the amazing iPod, iPhone, iPod Touch and now the iPad.

Today, Apple gadgets are part of the world’s everyday life…. at least to those who uses it. It won’t just be a simple “an APPLE a day….” but instead “the APPLE and me everyday…”.

I have an Apple iPod-Touch, the only Apple gadget I have. If not for my Blood Bank family in AFHSR, I don’t think I will be able to own one. DSC00735 My unending “thank you” for the gift will never be enough!  Undeniably, Apple gadget is as expensive as living up to the company’s sophistication. I miss  my Blood Bank family and this token will always remind me of you guys and of my precious years working with you. Like our friendship, this gadget will be treasured forever. As what Steve Jobs told the world “what we need before we wanted it” referring to the gadgets. On my part, it is the other way around,(Sorry Mr. Jobs Sad smile ) . I want an iPad, and an iPhone…. I am not desperately needing it for now but I do want it. You already left this world Mr.Jobs before I was able to get my own iPhone and iPad but nevertheless…. Thank You! Your legacy will live forever.
