a mother’s fave kind of “ME” time

After months and so, I was able to visit a favorite establishment and have a “ME” time. Tony and Jackey Korean Hair Experts has become my favorite hair stylist for over a year now. They were  kind, polite  and the most accommodating professionals  responsible for my pretty locks via digital perm last February 2011. Yesterday, I had the usual hair rebonding service and as always, I love the results.

Now, with my newly straight-rebonded hair, I am so ready for all the dazzling, fun and  exciting marathon holiday parties this Christmas season will take me!

Who says a stay-at-home mother like me can’t have my favorite kind of “ME” time. I have my very own mother to thank to though, for watching over my children while I have my precious pamper-myself-day. I thank all the staff and hair stylist at Tony and Jackey Korean Hair Experts for never-failing to give me a very excellent service each and every time! Smile

Curvaceous Women–Lovely as Dolphins and Whales

This is another write-up I wish to re-post and spread for the whole world to read. I was once slim and skinny but like most women who gained weight, I already forgot how I felt and looked when I was skinny because I am too pre-occupied trying my best to shed off these pounds I gained over the years. Reading this from a friend’s wall is like honoring women who embraces their femininity curves and all. Enhanced medical cosmetology is very common today and the more you hear from it , the more you will discover women dying because of it. To be natural is perfect. So for everyone who wishes to do the same.. feel free to re-post this.

Post by DELPHINE FEIBERG

A while back, at the entrance of a gym, there was a picture of a very thin and beautiful woman. The caption was "This summer, do you want to be a mermaid or a whale?"

The story goes, a woman (of clothing size unknown) answered the following way:

"Dear people, whales are always surrounded by friends (dolphins, seals, curious humans), they are sexually active and raise their children with great tenderness.

They entertain like crazy with dolphins and eat lots of prawns. They swim all day and travel to fantastic places like Patagonia, the Barents Sea or the coral reefs of Polynesia.

They sing incredibly well and sometimes even are on cds. They are impressive and dearly loved animals, which everyone defend and admires.

Mermaids do not exist.

But if they existed, they would line up to see a psychologist because of a problem of split personality: woman or fish?

They would have no sex life and could not bear children.

Yes, they would be lovely, but lonely and sad.

And, who wants a girl that smells like fish by his side?

Without a doubt, I’d rather be a whale.

At a time when the media tells us that only thin is beautiful, I prefer to eat ice cream with my kids, to have dinner with my husband, to eat and drink and have fun with my friends.

We women, we gain weight because we accumulate so much wisdom and knowledge that there isn’t enough space in our heads, and it spreads all over our bodies.

We are not fat, we are greatly cultivated.

Every time I see my curves in the mirror, I tell myself: "How amazing am I ?! "

(The girl on the picture is French model Tara Lynn) Feel free to tag yourselves :)

Last comment: I’m not putting down thin people, being a thin woman myself (BMI of 22 maybe?) just saying that being large doesn’t equate to being unattractive

First of all, Thank You Delphine Feiberg. You just don’t know how many curvaceous women in the world you made smiling while reading this.

Like the writer to this post, I am also not putting down skinny individuals like I have once been and besides I have lots of good friends who are skinny. With this post I am crowning curvaceous women like I am now. We may be heavy but that’s because we are full of love and happiness. I admit, gaining weight doesn’t only affect health but self confidence as well. So let us not subject ourselves to stress, self pity and low self esteem but instead let us all take one step at a time to achieve ideal weight for us. Being heavy doesn’t make us less lovable and attractive, It doesn’t make us less beautiful and sexy. We are still women and we can be who we wanna be for who we are and for who we become.

Proud to be PINAY

Shamcey Supsup , my country Philippines’ delegate to the 2011 Miss Universe Beauty Pageant . 25 year-old from General Santos City , Southern Mindanao Philippines. Graduated Magna-Cum-Laude for BS Architecture at the University of the Philippines. Topnotcher  in the Licensure Examination for Architects taken last July of 2010.

First time to join a pageant and made herself crowned Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2011 which brought her feet to Sao Paulo Brazil to compete with the 88 other most beautiful ladies in the 2011 Miss Universe Pageant. She top the poll voting , She made it to the top 16 , top 10 , top 5 and finally ranked 3rd place.

The timeline  on my twitter has been flooded for hours now of Filipinos that are proud and disappointed. Proud for Ms. Shamcey Supsup to rank third runner-up among 89 contestants. Proud for her to be the only contender at the top 5 who did not hire an interpreter. Proud for being the only English-speaking amongst the 5 finalist. Proud for fluently expressing her religious beliefs not only for herself but in behalf on the Filipino values as well. Proud for representing the nation with wit , beauty , personality and honor . For the Filipinos , She is Miss Universe for the year 2011.

So where does disappointment fit in the picture? Maybe because , Filipinos smart as we all are  (Ha!Ha!) , the idea of Miss Universe being the representative of women all around the world , perhaps one should be able to speak  and understand the international language. Agree? . Winning the crown not only entitles you to have all the time to learn speaking English but isn’t it a plus already if one is fluent when being crowned?.

Anyway , pageant is over and I congratulate Miss Angola Leila Lopes who took home the crown. I love the idea for a women of color to reign!   Miss Angola Leila Lopes with Ms. Universe 2010 Ximena Navarrette during the crown turn-over.

The world respects the judges’ decision  and Philippines is celebrating with her and her country. Good luck and enjoy the moment Miss Universe 2011!

The Make-Up

Miss Universe will be crowned tonight (that’ll be today , this morning according to Philippine time). Having to wait for the coronation ( as if I’m one of the contestants, Ha! Ha!) The Miss Universe Official Website became one of the frequently visited sites this week on my browser. Clicking all the “Behind the Scenes” videos, I watched this one intently.

Miss Universe 2011 Official Make Up line–Kryolan

What gets my attention was, what Ms. US Virgin Islands Alexandrya Evans said about the Official Make-Up line that the Miss U 2011 is using. Its KRYOLAN The Professional Make-Up .She said,  It doesn’t make her skin feel heavy , It doesn’t make her feel like she has too much make-up on. That is the quality I always look for in a make-up. I don’t want to make my skin feel like I have too much make-up on. I have heard and read of KRYOLAN Make-up a lot of times but I haven’t tried any of their products yet. It says , The Professional Make-Up , I am not a pro and could be the reason I don’t have one. Ha! Ha!

I love make-up. I love colors and I love playing with the vivid and lively shades , though I always have basic colors as prime choice just to be safe. I may not have everything a woman should have for a make-up , it is mainly because with the kind of lifestyle I got, I won’t be needing most of it anyway. Nevertheless , it  doesn’t make me less loving the world of make-up. Every time I read magazines , I may be able to skip the  pages of fashion clothes , designs , runway updates , accessories  or shoes , but I will always take time to read make-up and cosmetics.

These are mostly the products I often times run out of with. Which means , these are the products for my day to day use.

Celeteque  Gentle Exfoliating Facial Wash with Celeteque Water based Moisturizer

or , I use…. Kojic Acid Soap  !(a-must have every shower for me and my friend Tarhata)

The following just works fine with me , so I just keep switching from one to another depending on whatever I wish to use for the day.

The Mary Kay Liquid Foundation which was introduced to me by a good friend Dra. Melba Jane Leal some few years ago.

or sometimes The Mary Kay Liquid Foundation with moisturizer from my favorite dealer Ms. Olive Joy Campos together with the Melacep Foundation primer and Mary Kay Timewise Age-fighting Lip Primer. Colors I like most would play around any of the following:

Clinique Blended Loose face Powder , Clinique Blush and Bronze Duo and Clinique Surge and Rum Eye Shadow Set.

Revlon 12-hour Color Stay Eye Shadow and Revlon Beyond Natural Blush and Bronze. Final touches will be   Clinique  Think Bronze Lipstick(left )  or  Clinique’s  Different Lipstick in Ripe Raisin Shade

Ever Bilena’s Matte Lipstick in shades of  Mauvey  or my daily fave Mirrored Mocha(above) .  Avon’s Glimmersticks  Eyeliner in either black , dark grey or brown.(right)

Plus Max Faxtor’s Clear Mascara.

The colors we have on everyday can tell us who we are. Just right and not too much is the name of the game. Basic and mostly nude colors are my daily favorite. Whenever the occasion calls for it I can go bolder and brighter . Some believe it’s in the strokes, or the kind of brushes used. Some believe it is the brand of the cosmetics and for some, the make-up artist.

For always-on-the-go women (myself included) , we don’t have artists. So we settle for what makes us feel good and confident. As long as the product is safe , comfortable to use and make us feel the way we want to feel , then you know you have the best make-up product in you.

What’s your day to day color?

Swimsuit Competition- now & then

For the past week , the 60th Miss Universe 2011  updates has been among the headlines. This year the pageant will be held at Sao Paolo , Brazil , the land where the world’s tiniest bikini is popular.

Let’s take a walk down the memory lane. Year 1952 , Miss Universe was born , at which the Swimsuit Parade is known to be the pageant’s  most awaited hi-light!

Actress Piper Laurie crowned 1952 Miss Universe Armi Kuusela from Finland also awarded , Best in Swimsuit.

Ten years after , the pageant was held in Miami Beach , Florida. Norma Nolan from Argentina was crowned Miss Universe 1962awarded Best in Swimsuit Attire and won the title Miss Universe 1962.

We have witness the evolution of swimsuits on this pageant over the decades.

The Philippines have it’s own crowned beauties too. Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz (left).

After decades , the candidates were able to wear swimsuit design of their choice.    1980 Miss Universe Candidates in Seoul, Korea  1999 Miss Universe Candidates

Even two-piece bikinis for  Year 2007 Miss Universe Candidates in Swimsuit attire.

This year , who will take home the crown?

To the Philippines delegate , Ms. Shamcey Supsup , I wish you all the luck. Have fun getting your way to the crown on the coronation night September 12,2011 at Sao Paolo Brazil!
