Will I ever get caught wearing this?

No, I am not turning into a fashion blogger, wish I will be though but I am not that creative and talented nor daring to put a thing or two and come up with an amazing outfit and I’d rather stick to basic colors not unless color coding is specified to be comfortable enough! Anyway, like most women on the planet, I always love shoes but I don’t think these shoe designs will ever be in my shoe rack.

Banana Peel design by Kobi Levy

Blow-Up doll inspired design by Kobi Levy

wedge less boots???

Alexander McQueen’s ….uhmm ah.. CRAZY SHOES!

Shoes for the Playground… or Playground Slide Shoes?

Baretoes Tie-on wedge?… whatevs!

B- is for BASKET!… or not?..maybe a basket design shoes

are these shoes?..looks like a cellphone stand to me!

another Kobi Levy design which I can’t figure out!..a bar stool maybe!

I can never be a model not just because I’m more-to-love size(in short, CHUBBY) but I don’t think I can walk on these pairs! Nevertheless, they are all cute and funny, weird but stylish, extra ordinary and definitely a hard-to-find-matching-wardrobe kind of shoes.

Will you ever wear those???

OSCAR’s….as I see through it

Since they all look beautiful, I awarded myself few choices for the sake of having difficulty of choosing the best-dressed female celebrity on this year’s Oscar Awards Night. Without a specific random order here are the best dressed ladies.

MELANIE GRIFFITH

Star Star Star

Would have love to give her sleek, simple and sophisticated black gown a four stars. Topped with the perfect set of jewelries and slim purse. I always have a thing for black dresses specially with this kind of cut. I would have opted for her tattoo covered, but, it didn’t affect her look at all.

GWYNETH PALTROW

Star Star Star Star

White always suits her perfect. She always carries it with so much elegance and drama behind its simplicity. I am a little iffy about the cape but she went up the stage without it and she still looks amazing! With or without cape, she is indeed one of the best-dressed of the night. Others couldn’t help to notice and would ask: “What’s with the boring hair?” For me, it’s never boring nor plain but elegantly simple. Oh, check out the bangle type diamond cuff and intricately stylish ornate ring on her index finger, which compensates her not wearing a necklace and earing.  I like her too much for this!

MILA JOVOVICH

Star Star Star Star

Another perfect white elegance is Mila Jovovich. I have learned that this is her first time at Oscars and with that gown, I guess she left a very good first Oscar’s impression on the red carpet specially with that blazing hot red lipstick which matches the the beautiful hairdo. Can’t wait to see her on Resident Evil Retribution when it hit the screens come September.

TINA FEY

Star Star Star Star

This appearance of Tina Fey in a Carolina Herrera midnight blue tube gown just proves everybody that she is good not only in cracking jokes and being funny. The simple black belt highlighted the peplum design of the gown. A lighter shade jewelries gives her total picture an outstanding effect.

EMMA STONE

Star Star Star Star Star

A perfect five star rating for her stylish, flirty, fun and girly red tied-neck gown. I always love Emma and her almost always neutral make-up like this one. I love the way she had her red flocks do in a sideswept bun. The clutch is an LV, so I’ve learned  and its being intricately detailed does make the look truly beautiful.

So there goes…. how about you dear readers? Who do you think stand out at the red carpet with their 2012 Oscar’s look?

FITS OVER

My aunt from Vancouver BC, Canada introduced me to sun covers about five years ago. These are sun glasses or shades, as we usually call them that fits over a normal prescription spectacles. For individuals whose got bifocal prescription like myself, finding the perfect sun glasses is a must. I have tried transitional lenses before but I wasn’t just as comfortable wearing it.

The first pair she gave me was worn out too much as it did served its purpose while I was working overseas in a very sunny country like Saudi Arabia. On her vacation for year 2010, she gave me another pair at exactly two weeks after the first pair broke apart. It was perfect timing for a replacement since finding sun glasses of similar type here in the Philippines is like looking for a needle in a haystack. I have searched and inquired at almost all of the biggest and small time optical shops in the country and to no avail finding none. For others, online shopping would have solved the case but like wearing transitional lenses for spectacles, online shopping doesn’t suit me at all, not unless of course for books and other products that I don’t have to wear. With my never ending ‘Thank you’,  I am always grateful for my aunt for giving me this very special gift along all other stuff that she generously hands out to us.

Few days back, her shipment or the balikbayan box for us Filipinos, arrived from Vancouver finally. She was home since December and as usual, shipments are delivered late considering the holiday rush and all of it’s traffic. From the box, my aunt handed me two pairs of fit-over glasses in their cases which she carefully wrapped in a small LONDON DRUG shopping bag to protect it during the shipment. She mentioned that it is not the expensive type but she was thinking of me when she saw it on the display at London Drug.

the goodies from the box. a.k.a.- my eyes’ BFF

It says, SOLAR SHIELD, FITS OVER. It is made of polarized lens that provides 100% protection from UV rays.

I can’t deny how happy I am to have new SOLAR SHIELD-Fits Over sun glasses in my hands. Take note, not one but two pairs of my personally must-haves!

Like a giggling little girl handed with candies, I can’t wait to try it on.

Oooppss! Too much excitement, I even forgot to take the tags off!

so here goes…….

it fits over perfectly on my glasses, just what I needed it to…

They feel good worn and they look good over any spectacles.

Whatever you say, they also look good on me! Ha!Ha!

A very special gift, so..do you think I care on how much it cost? NEVER! It’s the thought that counts and never the cost. I know February is Valentines day-month, but I felt like this is still an extension from Christmas. In lieu with the big hearts day, I know I am loved, and I love you “Auntie CC baby” with all my heart!

I  become a Vibrams Five Fingers Barefoot Minimalist fan since July of 2011. I am not the sporty and athletic kind of person like most of VFF users but I fell in love with this type of shoes or socks as VFF-haters call it. Last September 2011, I bought my second pair and declared VFF as my feet’s BFF. I read and followed posts, blogs, researches, statistics and forums on their official fan site at www.myfivefingers.com. Like their page on Facebook and followed them on Twitter (@MyFiveFingers).

From time to time, they encourage VFF users and other barefoot minimalist to send them cool pictures on just about everything while having fun wearing VFF. I send a couple of photos and was luckily selected. Not just one but two pictures as a matter of fact!

Check it out!

a mother’s fave kind of “ME” time

After months and so, I was able to visit a favorite establishment and have a “ME” time. Tony and Jackey Korean Hair Experts has become my favorite hair stylist for over a year now. They were  kind, polite  and the most accommodating professionals  responsible for my pretty locks via digital perm last February 2011. Yesterday, I had the usual hair rebonding service and as always, I love the results.

Now, with my newly straight-rebonded hair, I am so ready for all the dazzling, fun and  exciting marathon holiday parties this Christmas season will take me!

Who says a stay-at-home mother like me can’t have my favorite kind of “ME” time. I have my very own mother to thank to though, for watching over my children while I have my precious pamper-myself-day. I thank all the staff and hair stylist at Tony and Jackey Korean Hair Experts for never-failing to give me a very excellent service each and every time! Smile

Proud to be PINAY

Shamcey Supsup , my country Philippines’ delegate to the 2011 Miss Universe Beauty Pageant . 25 year-old from General Santos City , Southern Mindanao Philippines. Graduated Magna-Cum-Laude for BS Architecture at the University of the Philippines. Topnotcher  in the Licensure Examination for Architects taken last July of 2010.

First time to join a pageant and made herself crowned Bb. Pilipinas Universe 2011 which brought her feet to Sao Paulo Brazil to compete with the 88 other most beautiful ladies in the 2011 Miss Universe Pageant. She top the poll voting , She made it to the top 16 , top 10 , top 5 and finally ranked 3rd place.

The timeline  on my twitter has been flooded for hours now of Filipinos that are proud and disappointed. Proud for Ms. Shamcey Supsup to rank third runner-up among 89 contestants. Proud for her to be the only contender at the top 5 who did not hire an interpreter. Proud for being the only English-speaking amongst the 5 finalist. Proud for fluently expressing her religious beliefs not only for herself but in behalf on the Filipino values as well. Proud for representing the nation with wit , beauty , personality and honor . For the Filipinos , She is Miss Universe for the year 2011.

So where does disappointment fit in the picture? Maybe because , Filipinos smart as we all are  (Ha!Ha!) , the idea of Miss Universe being the representative of women all around the world , perhaps one should be able to speak  and understand the international language. Agree? . Winning the crown not only entitles you to have all the time to learn speaking English but isn’t it a plus already if one is fluent when being crowned?.

Anyway , pageant is over and I congratulate Miss Angola Leila Lopes who took home the crown. I love the idea for a women of color to reign!   Miss Angola Leila Lopes with Ms. Universe 2010 Ximena Navarrette during the crown turn-over.

The world respects the judges’ decision  and Philippines is celebrating with her and her country. Good luck and enjoy the moment Miss Universe 2011!

The Make-Up

Miss Universe will be crowned tonight (that’ll be today , this morning according to Philippine time). Having to wait for the coronation ( as if I’m one of the contestants, Ha! Ha!) The Miss Universe Official Website became one of the frequently visited sites this week on my browser. Clicking all the “Behind the Scenes” videos, I watched this one intently.

Miss Universe 2011 Official Make Up line–Kryolan

What gets my attention was, what Ms. US Virgin Islands Alexandrya Evans said about the Official Make-Up line that the Miss U 2011 is using. Its KRYOLAN The Professional Make-Up .She said,  It doesn’t make her skin feel heavy , It doesn’t make her feel like she has too much make-up on. That is the quality I always look for in a make-up. I don’t want to make my skin feel like I have too much make-up on. I have heard and read of KRYOLAN Make-up a lot of times but I haven’t tried any of their products yet. It says , The Professional Make-Up , I am not a pro and could be the reason I don’t have one. Ha! Ha!

I love make-up. I love colors and I love playing with the vivid and lively shades , though I always have basic colors as prime choice just to be safe. I may not have everything a woman should have for a make-up , it is mainly because with the kind of lifestyle I got, I won’t be needing most of it anyway. Nevertheless , it  doesn’t make me less loving the world of make-up. Every time I read magazines , I may be able to skip the  pages of fashion clothes , designs , runway updates , accessories  or shoes , but I will always take time to read make-up and cosmetics.

These are mostly the products I often times run out of with. Which means , these are the products for my day to day use.

Celeteque  Gentle Exfoliating Facial Wash with Celeteque Water based Moisturizer

or , I use…. Kojic Acid Soap  !(a-must have every shower for me and my friend Tarhata)

The following just works fine with me , so I just keep switching from one to another depending on whatever I wish to use for the day.

The Mary Kay Liquid Foundation which was introduced to me by a good friend Dra. Melba Jane Leal some few years ago.

or sometimes The Mary Kay Liquid Foundation with moisturizer from my favorite dealer Ms. Olive Joy Campos together with the Melacep Foundation primer and Mary Kay Timewise Age-fighting Lip Primer. Colors I like most would play around any of the following:

Clinique Blended Loose face Powder , Clinique Blush and Bronze Duo and Clinique Surge and Rum Eye Shadow Set.

Revlon 12-hour Color Stay Eye Shadow and Revlon Beyond Natural Blush and Bronze. Final touches will be   Clinique  Think Bronze Lipstick(left )  or  Clinique’s  Different Lipstick in Ripe Raisin Shade

Ever Bilena’s Matte Lipstick in shades of  Mauvey  or my daily fave Mirrored Mocha(above) .  Avon’s Glimmersticks  Eyeliner in either black , dark grey or brown.(right)

Plus Max Faxtor’s Clear Mascara.

The colors we have on everyday can tell us who we are. Just right and not too much is the name of the game. Basic and mostly nude colors are my daily favorite. Whenever the occasion calls for it I can go bolder and brighter . Some believe it’s in the strokes, or the kind of brushes used. Some believe it is the brand of the cosmetics and for some, the make-up artist.

For always-on-the-go women (myself included) , we don’t have artists. So we settle for what makes us feel good and confident. As long as the product is safe , comfortable to use and make us feel the way we want to feel , then you know you have the best make-up product in you.

What’s your day to day color?

Swimsuit Competition- now & then

For the past week , the 60th Miss Universe 2011  updates has been among the headlines. This year the pageant will be held at Sao Paolo , Brazil , the land where the world’s tiniest bikini is popular.

Let’s take a walk down the memory lane. Year 1952 , Miss Universe was born , at which the Swimsuit Parade is known to be the pageant’s  most awaited hi-light!

Actress Piper Laurie crowned 1952 Miss Universe Armi Kuusela from Finland also awarded , Best in Swimsuit.

Ten years after , the pageant was held in Miami Beach , Florida. Norma Nolan from Argentina was crowned Miss Universe 1962awarded Best in Swimsuit Attire and won the title Miss Universe 1962.

We have witness the evolution of swimsuits on this pageant over the decades.

The Philippines have it’s own crowned beauties too. Miss Universe 1969 Gloria Diaz (left).

After decades , the candidates were able to wear swimsuit design of their choice.    1980 Miss Universe Candidates in Seoul, Korea  1999 Miss Universe Candidates

This year , who will take home the crown?

To the Philippines delegate , Ms. Shamcey Supsup , I wish you all the luck. Have fun getting your way to the crown on the coronation night September 12,2011 at Sao Paolo Brazil!

just a pair or two

Crazy as I am with the VFF just because I fell in love with them a few months back but, First love never dies. Flat Shoes… in any style and design. My eyeballs turned into heart shapes the very second I set my eyes on these while browsing.

MELISSA HOOP II

The beautiful Hoop is designed to look almost like an antique doll shoe. Delicate and romantic, these flats are even more stylish with the incredible bow appliqué that was added to the summer 2011 version.

In this unique model of Melissa Ultragirl, the contrast between the surface and the details that remind of the appearance of bouclê warp knitting, creates a visual feast with the combination of unusual colors.

  Kenneth Cole’s THE DELIGHT ( Spring-Summer 2011 collection)

Yes. To answer the question. It should be black . I have a thing for black flats. I know most of them are designer shoes. But hey! Christmas is less than four months from now and I’ll be 32 next month. A PAIR or TWO will do.

Wish the wish in a magic wand!

follow the leader

As a follow up from my previous post “Competition” and “VFF- my feet’s new BFF”

Five Fingers started everything according to my understanding. The did research and promoted barefoot minimalist shoes by creating Vibram Five Fingers Barefoot Minimalist TOE shoes.

VFF shoes were created with lots of designs for men and women and  even children over which these designs were made in reference to the researches and studies done as well the sports and outdoor activities that these shoes were specifically made for.

They gained lots of VFF fans and avid users , myself included.

Like I have mentioned in my previous post, Competition makes this world go round. The demand to create the type of shoes has inspired other companies as well to create one of their own : So,.. follow the leader!

FILA has then given birth to FILA Skele-toes:

Not too long ago , Adidas has launched their very own Barefoot Minimalist shoes in the image of Adipure Trainers:

Before we all know it , other shoe manufacturers has been creating shoes in the same way to promote barefoot running:

ZEM’s barefoot minimalist shoe in a “SPLIT-Toe” design.

  INOV-8 ‘s barefoot minimalist toe-shoe  design EVOSKIN

Regardless of the others having to create Toe-Shoes to keep up with the demand on the barefoot technology,It has been known that Vibram Five Fingers is the original. Unknown to many other shoe company will be coming with their own representation of toe-shoes sooner . Are we going to be surprise if one of the biggest like Nike will be having their toe-shoes soon? or have they already slowly started to ease their way up in creating them starting of with the Nike Air Rift in split-toe style?

Do you think Nike already did?… ha! ha!

What about this funny toe shoe imitations everywhere?

Impressive designs right????…… Here’s another one! =)

Guess I will just be watching for more designs coming up from other shoe manufacturers then. I still love Nike, Adidas , Fila and I will be caught having their products on anytime . They are already good for what they already have and known for, but for me, there is only one toe-shoe , it’s Vibram Five Fingers and the heck with the rest of the followers and the wanna-be VFFs.
