I love Kim Chiu. I like the show My Binondo Girl. I love the story and I like the stars that plays the roles. It has been going on for several weeks now and I find myself hanging on to every episode. I got carried away in some of the scenes thus I have shed tears almost every night.
Tonight’s episode which features the birthday party of Chen Sy made me come to thinking. On his birthday speech he elaborates that through out this fifty years of existence the only thing that made him sad is the death of his son Chen Sy-II, he also emphasizes that Time Heals All Wounds and is making the public know that he wishes to have the next fifty years to make up to his shortcomings to his other son Yuan Sy/Baby Yuan Dimaguiba. At this point , Jade Dimaguiba’s secret was revealed and apologies were expressed but Jade Dimaguiba was not given a chance to explain her side of story and the rejection of a father to a child scene took place.

Personally, I am starting to get annoyed and angry (like I said I got hooked with the drama and I got carried away). Do you think this series is giving the nation a family show with moral values? Or does it give the public the wrong impression. Philippines has a high number of babies born out of wedlock (like Jade Dimaguiba and baby brother Yuan) and one of the many reasons were the rejection of the man who fathered the child. Simplified as, the guy is not responsible enough, not man enough to face the consequences of his actions, turned his back and rejects the child with the lady he knocked up with. There are even legitimate children suffering from abandonment and rejection from their very own fathers. Painful. Traumatic and devastating to an innocent individual to suffer any kind of rejection specially if the reason is their GENDER. I am starting to see this show as an invitation to the male population(specially to fil-chi community and even to those fil-chi wannabes) and is giving them ideas that it is alright to get a girl pregnant and turn their backs specially if they are expecting a baby girl because the culture believes it to be giving the family a bad luck. Instead of promoting values and responsibility, this show seems to be tolerating the chauvinistic arrogance of a male ego. It is making them feel that even if they abandon their child ,the fact would remain that they are still the father and the child will run after their attention. Complete bullsh*t of an idea to feed the young minds.
I would still watch the show, I just hope that they would mellow down Jade Dimaguiba’s desire to be with the father who don’t deserve a pure love from a child.

Chen Sy is the father of Jade Dimaguiba(Kim Chiu), daughter of Zeny Dimaguiba(Ai-Ai) who happens to be Chen’ Sy’s first love when Zeny was still working in China years ago. Jade is Chen Sy’s unwanted daughter because according to Chinese culture having a daughter as first born is considered a bad luck. A steaming love triangle between Zeny, Chen and Jean Sy, the wife of Chen played by Cherry Pie who is also Zeny’s former best friend has added to the show’s ultimate“kilig” factor.
