Have you ever been cheated????

For over three weeks now, I took time following and  reading the reports about Twilight star’s cheating scandal. Yes, I am talking about Kristen Stewart who was caught cheating on Robert Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, that left Twilight actress  “devastated” for jeopardizing her relationship with her longtime boyfriend. –So the reports have said.

Longtime Boyfriend? I didn’t know that! I mean they are good to look at together. And the chemistry is undeniably hot! Only because they tried to be discrete and confidential about it, and only to finally admit that they have been seriously involve after the pictures of Kristen and Rupert has gone public.

Don’t panic. I am not turning into a showbiz reporter, nor a Hollywood columnist. I am not interested in other people’s affairs specially if they don’t know me. Well, let me rephrase that.

I don’t have the habit of sticking my nose into other people’s lives. Which is actually telling the same thing I’ve said before that. Okay… what I actually mean is, I read their stories and get the information. It is not because they are such big stars but because they are actually fussing and making such a big deal about it. Hellowww!!! It is Hollywood, cheating is common and it is not  world record breaking event.

They were agitated about how devastated and guilty Kristen is, and sympathetic of how Robert Pattinson would handle the betrayal and how Rupert’s wife and the rest of the family will be able to cope up and recover of such world-shakin’ scandal. But then again, they are big stars, so that alone gives them the right to public attention. Their fans should know and the fans’ points of view shall be taken into consideration. Yeah, Right.

What about regular people?

Exactly. What about the ordinary couples who doesn’t have paparazzi following and stalking them? What about the relationships who were not subjects of choice of the camera?

Have you been cheated?

Yes. And I admit the hurt and pain is unbearable. The crazy, confusing, devastating, overwhelming, shattering, painful and degrading feeling of betrayal is unbearable.

How did you find out?

That is simple. I don’t need paparazzi to secretly snap pictures for evidence. I have eyes. They might be defective since I am wearing glasses ever since fourth grade but I can see what needs to be seen.

Did you have a hard time going through it?

NO. I have VERY hard time.

How are you doing now?

Oh I’ve moved on. That was easy. Dump the cheater. Happiness is a choice. So, as all of you can see, I never regret the period of being broken . Because it just made way for me to have a slot in the podium of life’s happiness.

Did you forgive and forget?

Good question! Of course I forgive! Why not? What am I-God?; Forget? I don’t think so but like I said it is a thankful-unforgettable-kind-of–not–forgetting. Blessing in disguise in other words.

What am I really trying to say is, Cheating is happening all over the world. I experienced what it feels like being cheated therefore I will never do it to the person who didn’t do anything but love me and cares for me like a queen.

The logic is plain and simple. Once a cheater always a cheater.  There are aspects to consider and I am aware of that. If the cheater did it once-that is more than enough. Forgiveness is a virtue. If not done again, well and good. If there is a second round, then I rest my case.

I guess I made myself a celebrity with this post. I was interviewed by no other than myself. Weird huh! So let me turn the camera to the majority of the non-celebrity public. The hot seat is ready for you and the camera starts rolling.

Have you ever been cheated? Would you like to tell me about it?

I never cried when celebrities died, not until now. The King of Comedy of Philippine Showbiz passed away.

What’s your stand?

Browsing sites and reading tweets online, I came across Ms.Lea Salonga’s tweet about her stand on the issues of GAY MARRIAGE where Pres. Barack Obama has clearly voiced out his say. Been hearing a lot about this lately, though I actually don’t care which stand to believe because either way is fine.

lea

I love Ms. Lea Salonga ever since I was little. She is my favorite voice behind some Disney Princesses that I like and it is because of her that I was obsessed with Ms.Saigon music records years ago. I just didn’t get any chance at all to watch it on stage but to be able to see the play someday is still among my bucket list. Anyway, what caught my attention was her tweet saying “Go ahead and ignore my singing… but here’s my stand on gay marriage.” –  I can actually ignore the stand about gay marriage because it is what I am doing since the issue was out but the singing???- Come on! I can’t do that. Ms. Lea Salonga singing is less likely to be ignored, not to me at least. So yeah.. I don’t think anybody can ignore this kind of singing. Check this out!

Ms. Lea Salonga’s stand on Gay Marriage

So what is my stand?

Same as previously stated. EITHER WAY IS FINE. If I live in a country where it is not allowed, then I can live with that. I am not gay and it will never affect me in any way. On the other hand, I always believe that people can choose who they want to marry and so I am just as happy as the gay people knowing that there are actually places in the globe who supports what their hearts wanted to say. Meaning, there is always a choice though it involves a little bit of relocation.

I am neither Democrat nor Republican, of course that is obvious because I am not a citizen of the United States and I am not a fan of Pres.Barack Obama or any other President for that matter. Don’t get me wrong, I practiced my right to vote and I take that fundamental human right seriously. I have my own world I guess because I am not politically attached. His statement didn’t influence me on my stand on gay marriage(as I don’t have any!) nor Ms. Lea Salonga’s expressed stand with her singing. I have gay people close to my heart and I just wanted them as they are. They can marry or not and that is totally up to their heart’s content.

AVENGERS

The world’s mightiest heroes will come together on a movie. As soon as my kids heard this and practically saw the official trailer, they didn’t stop bugging me for a movie date. Avengers movie is a 2012 American superhero film produced by Marvel Studios and distributed Walt Disney Pictures came to cinemas a week ahead for countries overseas like here in Philippines before United States had it on. Anyhow, I made a promise to the kids and to watch it is the only way to keep it. So we went.

Like a normal mother goose, I shared their excitement. They ignored the popcorn booth which is very strange because as far as I know they love to watch movies in theaters so that they can eat popcorn that comes in big buckets!

We came twenty minutes early so I was able to get photos before the lights went out as they were impatiently restless and ranted me endless questions as to when the movie will start while putting the 3D glasses on and off and curiously playing with it. The theater filled up with movie watchers in no time- Thank God!

So, the kids love it like they usually do in every super hero movie but did I? Oh hell Yeah! I think Marvel has just succeeded with this approach in putting together all these do-gooders or good-doers(whatevs!). I have seen Justice League before and I didn’t have as much fun as I have watching the Avengers smashing NY to pieces. The individual stories of each Avenger hero were nicely put together in a very warm way of camaraderie. FUN comes along with the film as it does have lot of chuckle-worthy moments.

To make summer for the kids extra exciting, do yourself a favor… Take them to see Avengers in theater! Home viewing is always a good idea for family bonding but the theater just gives the chill that only a big screen can. Hell, watch it twice if you can.

I am looking forward for the release of its DVD copies because as expected, my son can’t just get enough of the film, besides, I would like to see Captain America(Chris Evans a.k.a. Steve Rogers) and the mighty THOR(Chris Hemsworth) all over again. Can’t help it… they look hot and good looking!

The world’s mightiest heroes might be busy but somebody seems to be sulking somewhere else..

Don’t worry Peter Parker, they will definitely give you a call!

OSCAR’s….as I see through it

Since they all look beautiful, I awarded myself few choices for the sake of having difficulty of choosing the best-dressed female celebrity on this year’s Oscar Awards Night. Without a specific random order here are the best dressed ladies.

MELANIE GRIFFITH

Star Star Star

Would have love to give her sleek, simple and sophisticated black gown a four stars. Topped with the perfect set of jewelries and slim purse. I always have a thing for black dresses specially with this kind of cut. I would have opted for her tattoo covered, but, it didn’t affect her look at all.

GWYNETH PALTROW

Star Star Star Star

White always suits her perfect. She always carries it with so much elegance and drama behind its simplicity. I am a little iffy about the cape but she went up the stage without it and she still looks amazing! With or without cape, she is indeed one of the best-dressed of the night. Others couldn’t help to notice and would ask: “What’s with the boring hair?” For me, it’s never boring nor plain but elegantly simple. Oh, check out the bangle type diamond cuff and intricately stylish ornate ring on her index finger, which compensates her not wearing a necklace and earing.  I like her too much for this!

MILA JOVOVICH

Star Star Star Star

Another perfect white elegance is Mila Jovovich. I have learned that this is her first time at Oscars and with that gown, I guess she left a very good first Oscar’s impression on the red carpet specially with that blazing hot red lipstick which matches the the beautiful hairdo. Can’t wait to see her on Resident Evil Retribution when it hit the screens come September.

TINA FEY

Star Star Star Star

This appearance of Tina Fey in a Carolina Herrera midnight blue tube gown just proves everybody that she is good not only in cracking jokes and being funny. The simple black belt highlighted the peplum design of the gown. A lighter shade jewelries gives her total picture an outstanding effect.

EMMA STONE

Star Star Star Star Star

A perfect five star rating for her stylish, flirty, fun and girly red tied-neck gown. I always love Emma and her almost always neutral make-up like this one. I love the way she had her red flocks do in a sideswept bun. The clutch is an LV, so I’ve learned  and its being intricately detailed does make the look truly beautiful.

So there goes…. how about you dear readers? Who do you think stand out at the red carpet with their 2012 Oscar’s look?

DISRESPECTFUL?

The Red Carpet for Grammy’s is one of the highlights of the event that I most wanted to see, aside of course for the winners. I was actually planning to write a more detailed feedback about the ceremonies but I guess I will have to do that later. As for now, I can’t help but write something about this, as a totally attention-seeking, awareness-catching  post!

I absolutely find Nicki Minaj’s arriving at the red carpet with POPE-dressed-up-dude as insulting, disrespectful mockery. I actually didn’t come to notice Nicki Minaj, neither her music nor her style until the little kids started singing her songs. In fact, one of her cute, lovely, talented, sweet little fan’s video idolizing Nicki Minaj has become a hit on YouTube, discovered and featured by Ellen DeGeneres in her show.

I don’t care what others actually think, but Nicki Minaj’s red carpet walk and pose is a fail this time. I see it as COMPLETELY not a good influence for her young fans all over the world. She was already good with all the tutu skirts, colored wigs and girly fashion. Can she just stick to that and stay out of the whole catholic mockery and or disrespect?

I am sorry Nicki, you have just given me a reason to delete you from my playlist and music library albeit the fact that I have started to like your music and talent. The spot for admiration is vacant and is still there though, Please do clean the act!

Madonna’s SUPERBOWL Half-time Show

Unlike the previous years, I am not enthusiastic regarding this year’s NFL SUPERBOWL XLVI played between New York Giants and New England Patriots. Being a Pittsburgh Steeler fan and their early goodbye this season  just simply cut the level of excitement regarding the finals. However, half-time shows during SUPERBOWL is something I don’t want to miss.

MADONNA is a fantastic artist and performer. She might not be among my beloved favorites but with no doubt, I like her. I sang her songs when the radio plays it at times when it is rocking the hits. Everyone if not all sees her as in icon and named her as the Queen of Pop.

As soon as the buzz was out on who will be the half-time show performer, it has given everyone the verge of anxiety. For this performance, other artists like M.I.A., Nicki Minaj, LMFAO and Cee-Lo Green joined her. A more or less thirteen-minute show packed with medleys of her songs and some, which ended with a fully lighted ground that reads WORLD PEACE.

Did she able to give the world a peace of mind with her performance for the NFL SUPERBOWL XLVI?

Wanna’ have a second look of the half-time show? Check this out!

Madonna look marvelous and I guess she will always be. She added her new single “Give Me All Your Luvin” to the line up along with other classics like Vogue, Music and Like A Prayer. I find the whole act kinda incomplete. Don’t get me wrong, I love Madonna but I just didn’t see her in her usual 100% stage performance. The choreography was awesome, the projection was great but there’s something in there that left me hanging. Was it just me or some of you out there noticed it too? Was it a lip-sync?? ..Oh boy! For crying out loud.. I do hope it was not!

Well, How do you guys find the Queen of Pop- Madonna’s SUPERBOWL XLVI Half-Time Show? Wanna share points of view?

Love’s Best Songs

February, second month on the Gregorian calendar and by far known as the LOVE MONTH. In lieu to the world wide celebration of red hearts, I will dedicate this month’s posts to LOVE and ROMANCE’s best of the best, starting of with my top-10 all time favorite LOVE SONGS including OPM(Original Pinoy Music).

Red heart  Red heart  Red heart

1. “THIS KISS” by Faith Hill, OST of the movie Practical Magic(1998). Written by Beth Nielsen Chapman, Robin Lerner and Annie Roboff and was released March 10,1998 as Faith Hill’s first single on her self-titled album FAITH.

2. “BECAUSE YOU LOVE ME” a song from Céline Dion’s album Falling into You, OST of the movie UP CLOSE and PERSONAL(1996), released as the first single on February 19, 1996. Written by Diane Warren and produced by David Foster.

4. “HERE WITHOUT YOU” an alternative rock love song by American rock band 3 DOORS DOWN. This song released on August 11, 2003 and was written by the band’s vocalist/drummer Brad Arnolds. The song is about being away from someone and missing them, and it’s not about how long you’ve gone, it’s about the loneliness that comes with missing someone. It’s also about a state of peace that comes with dreaming of the missed loved one(wiki).

5. “THE WAY YOU LOVE ME” by Faith HILL. It was the second single off her 1999 Breathe album, released as a single in 2000.

6. “214” by BAMBOO featuring the original RIVERMAYA. Released year 1994 in the Philippine tracks and praised for by it’s fresh , exciting and new pop/rock sound and was one of the best songs in their album. Still a favorite by many Pinoys up to this date. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to find the official music video of the song.

7. “IRIS” by alternative rock band GOO GOO DOLLS. Released in April 1998 and recorded as OST for the movie City of Angels.

8. “YOU and ME” from the group LIFEHOUSE. Written by the band’s lead singer Jason Wade and American record producer Jude Cole. It was recorded and produced by John Alagía. Released January 28, 2005 and has appeared as featured song on many television series like Smallville, Coldcase and my favorite Grey’s Anatomy.

9. “THIS I PROMISE YOU” the third and final single released from Irish singer/songwriter Ronan Keating’s fourth solo album, Bring You Home. Written by Ronan Keating and Paul Barry. Released in November 13,2006 by Polydor Records.

10 “LOVE WILL SHOW YOU EVERYTHING” by Jennifer Love Hewitt. OST of the movie IF ONLY.

These are only the top 10 love songs among my favorites. If I were put all of them in this blog I would have to install my playlist in here for that.

More to come for LOVE’s best of the best!

Christmas Holiday Ready?

I was in a cranky mood this past few days, someone dear to me says so. I admit I was and I guess I still am now. Reason? I am not exactly sure. Stress could be the one, someone dear to me says so again. As I woke up this morning, I was feeling blank and clueless. I even have to check my cellphone to find the date for today, 15th November it said. I got up from the bed against my will dragging myself like a zombie. I was quiet while doing my usual morning routines preparing and making my son get ready for school. Just as he was leaving, my daughter woke up.

“Is it still early?” she asked me in her still sleepy voice.

“For you, YES” I replied, her classes will start after lunch so I figure I can give her more time “You can still grab few more winks” I added.

“No, I have to wake up now” she answered me.

“Why rushing? Do you have something important to do?” I asked her.

“I have to wake up , that way it will get closer to night time and tomorrow will come and the day after tomorrow and so on” she tried to explain to me. I stared at her trying to figure out what she is up to. Sensing my thoughts, she explained further “ Ma, TV Patrol last night says its 41 days more before Christmas! That was last night so it makes it 40days today, See? that wasn’t so much to wait for right? It is soon , right?” she is fully awake now and the usual hyper HER is already making her usual hyper questions.

“Yes, it is soon…” I answered her.

“I’m excited” she said and she is giggling. “I have to memorize the song because my classmate said if I can’t sing Christmas carols , Christmas day won’t come fast” Once again I stared and at the same time smiling on her panic expression. I was thinking who the hell is giving this kids such reasons??!!

“Oh yeah?  You already know lots of Christmas carols you can start singing those right?” I suggested.

“But there is a song they keep singing… I have to sing it too” she is really getting worried. “it’s called Christmas in out hearts, I heard it the other day!”

Christmas In Our Hearts by Jose Mari Chan. I know the song and its one of my favorites. It brings back childhood memories celebrating Christmas with my cousins where we have to go house to house in our neighborhood singing Christmas carols. This song was released under Universal Records Year 1990 and became a hit.

I told my daughter that it is a very beautiful song and I can help her memorize it. I dig into my mom’s old collection of cartridge tapes and found Jose Mari Chan’s record.

I was glad that it played good with our current player. Listening to my daughter trying to memorize the lyrics made me realize who cares about who gave these kids the funny reasoning about Christmas not coming fast if one doesn’t sing Christmas carols? If she is preparing for the holidays by learning to sing Christmas carols, then so be it. Open-mouthed smile

Christmas in our Heart by Jose Mari Chan

I can see my daughter love the song as much as I did when I was little, and I am definitely loving it more now that I can sing it with my children.Smile

Born to Run

I started joining fun runs early this year. I’m not a pro in running but I enjoy doing it. A very dear friend of mine Reverie Llanes-Aniñon told me to get this book about running which she and her hubby has been reading. Rev,has been my long-distant-walking-book-review-adviser. She is 10x more of a book worm as I am. I recall college days when we spent out mall hours digging books on any book sale we can find or killing time browsing the books trying to get free-reads on book shops. She told me the book was truly inspiring and she will share thoughts with me about it once I’m done reading it. I promised her I will get the book as soon as I can and true to my words, I purchased one:

BORN TO RUN
A Hidden Tribe , Superathletes  and the Greatest Race the World has Never Seen

by Christopher McDougall

Category: Sports;Memoirs
Published by: Vintage Books a division of Random House ,Inc
New York
First Vintage Books Edition,March 2011

I walked inside the bookstore, normally, I will stop at the first shelf of books and work my way to the last shelf browsing and reading back covers. This time, I knew what I wanted and I went straight to the bookstore associate. I asked if they have available copy of BORN to RUN by Christopher McDougall and the lady told me there’s two left. As soon as she handed me a copy I smiled, held it in my hands like a priced possession and went straight to the counter to pay for it. Normally  once again, I will never  walk to the counter to pay for a book not until I have my arms loaded with books that I want and has to stare at them for almost an hour before I will  decide which one I would take home and the ones I need to come back for.

Since it was getting late, I haul my self to a bus before the rush hour. Sitting at the bus, I tore open the package and signed my name on the first page with a date. I always do this on all my books so I can remember when I got them. I wasted no time flipping the pages and started reading.

Running. Why do humans run? Do they have to? Why does animals do the same? Do they really have to? Christopher McDougall’s story, a.k.a “El Oso”(the bear) is not just incredible. It will not only engage our mind but inspire our body the moment we realize that you, in fact all of us were BORN to RUN.  As humans, we are designed to have two lower extremities not only for the sake of posture or form. These extremities we called legs and feet are designed to walk, swim, jump, leap gallop…. RUN.

As I was reading each and every page , chapter by chapter I had lots of realizations on why we are all born to run. *"We run when we’re scared, we run when we’re ecstatic, we ran away from our problems and run around for a good time, and when things look worst we run the most*The book featured not only the world’s champions and ultra runners but the most distinguished experts and researchers, the respected sports medical specialist as well as the giant sports shoe companies that up to this date are still working hard to find solutions and remedies on how to avoid fatal running injuries which basically pushed El Oso to this epic adventure that began with his one simple question: Why does my foot hurt? Aside from these known personalities in the running industry, this adventure lead them to the hidden tribe of super athletes isolated by Mexico’s deadly Copper Canyons, the fascinating Tarahumara Indians who have the ability to run hundreds of miles without rest or injury. They are The Running People sans expensive designer running shoes, sans training, sans stretching and warm-ups prior to race, sans power bars and energy drinks.

What made me love this book?

With this book, I realized I made the right choice purchasing barefoot minimalist shoes.Ha! Ha!… It’s pretty obvious I love this weird-looking toe-shoes called Vibram Five Fingers as I have mentioned in my previous blog. Naturally, a human don’t need  shoes to run good. According to Barefoot Ted *our feet follows the concept of bricolage—that less is more, the best solution is the most elegant. Why add something when you are born with everything you need*I have been using it for months, I got myself two pairs and I seldom suffer from leg cramps lately. I guess it is working good for  me.

On one of my recent blog To Do List, losing weight and working out is my To Do list that I can’t seem to finish off. Hopefully, as inspired as I am with this book, I will be able to mark it done by RUNNING. * If you’re tougher than you think you are, and you can do more than you think you can*”. So, there is nothing impossible. I will run and I can be good if I want to. *You don’t’ have to be fast, you’d better be fearless* . I’m fearless enough alright. I know I am. Slowly but surely. I don’t have to go speeding off right away. I am walking now as much as I can and so is my friend Rev. According to the phantom Caballo Blanco’s lessons on running, just think of these four words EASY, LIGHT, SMOOTH and FAST. * start with EASY, if that’s what you get, that’s not so bad. Make it LIGHT- effortless, don’t give a sh*t on how high the hill is or how far you will go. SMOOTH- smooth enough your embracing running that you forgot you’re practicing the first two words. FAST- get those first three and one will be FAST in no time*Four words to remember and master. That would be easy. For us who are now inspired that we can be ultra runners (wishful thinking Winking smile ), to truly conquer something is to truly love it. Way to go Rev! Who knows?, We will be cruising with the Raramuri someday!

As I closed the book , few of El Oso’s words remain to linger on my mind. “Nothing works out according to plan but it always work out” Well then, I may still won’t be able to mark running as done on my To Do list soon but  definitely, I will be running.

* When you run on the earth and you run with the earth, you can run forever!”

Happy Reading!
