Mother’s Day 2013

I woke up with the world’s best greeting cards in sight. Set on top of my laptop on the bedside table. And so, the day just keeps getting better.

Little greeting cards from my kids and a loving one from my husband.

The kids made me peanut butter and jelly sandwich topped with over flowing whipped cream and chocolate syrup for breakfast even though I was already up and awake so much ahead of them. It’s more like an early lunch already. Crazy yet very sweet idea.

I’m saved from cooking dinner as we had take-out food consist of Super Herfy Burger and Saudi’s best Al-Khareej Broast Chicken.

To complete my Mother’s Day treat, my dear husband brought home a box full of my all time favorite cinnamon rolls from the one and only CINNABON.

I had a day full of surprises. It makes me wish for this occasion to last the entire year. The good thing about it though is that, I am celebrating with all the other mothers from the rest of the world. Lastly, I would give my salute and appreciation to my dear mother who has made me for who I am today. Happy Mother’s Day!

if KEYBOARDS can talk

Someone has asked me why I blog, In an instant, I answered that blogging is one way of releasing boredom and stress. A reason I so do believe strongly. As a joke, I said that as a blogger, I am giving my keyboards a chance to talk.

If my laptop keyboards can really talk, what would it possibly be talking about now?

- It will definitely complain about how people typed Facebook statuses in SMS forms and not giving chances for other keys getting clicked. That using “ur” instead of “your” or “you’re” is actually reducing the keys five times its chance to function.

- It will talk about how Twitter only allows 160 or so characters when “twitting” is suppose to be endless.

- It will talk about how annoying it is to hear a cellphone conversation in a bus ride when the talker is practically screaming and cares less for the rest of the passengers to hear their conversation because the device was set to a speaker phone in such full volume.

- It will talk about how irritating it is to approach an information desk and whoever sits there will answer “I don’t know” when they are suppose to know because that is what information is all about.

- It will talk about how refreshing it is to see someone smile at you regardless if they are strangers or otherwise.

- It will talk about how routine it is for Customer Service Representatives to say “I’m sorry for the inconvenience”  when a call is about any malfunction when clearly they are not sorry at all and was just saying it because it is a protocol.

- It will talk about how awesome it is to have virtual friends. Personal Messages, Electronic notifications, IMs, tweets, comments and likes may seem so impersonal but one will always appreciate that an effort to reach out was done.

- It will talk about being yourself. About not to ever be afraid to show who you really are for as long as you are happy with yourself, and you are not hurting anyone, no one else’s opinions matter.

- It will talk about if only our tongues are made of thin and delicate sheets of glass, how much careful we would have when we talk and speak.

- It will talk about how we will not always get what we want and bitching about it will frustrates us more.

Laptop keyboard will talk about a lot of things that lips can’t express. Because sometimes, it is good to stay quiet and endure the peace and hearing only the clicking keys translating the brain’s ideas….. even if nobody will ever get to read them.

So….. if your keyboards can talk, what is it talking about?

iPhone 5….. worth it or not?

I guess no matter how innovative  and technologically improve the world is today, human race still believe that the recently launched Apple iPhone5 simply isn’t enough. I don’t have iPhone5 actually that’s why I am saying human race thinks so. However, let me share an article from Yahoo about iPhone5 product review.

……………………………………………

8 Things the iPhone 5 Still Can’t Do

In terms of specs, performance, and features, the iPhone 5 is Apple’s best to date. This doesn’t mean it’s as good as it could be, however.

There were a few egregious omissions from the keynote presentation – features that we not only want in our iPhone, but that we feel are overdue.

NFC for iPhone5(Patently Apple)NFC for mobile payments

Instead of building NFC into the iPhone, Apple would rather have you use its Passbook system, which lets lets users store tickets, gift cards, boarding passes, and the like.

It can handle some (but definitely not all) of the tasks that you might use NFC for. For example, you can’t use Passbook to wirelessly send money to a friend via PayPal.

NFC also lets you beam content between devices just by tapping them together. Samsung’s Galaxy S III takes advantage of this feature.

iPhone5 keyboard(Swype)An improved texting solution on the keyboard, like Swype

Swype is something of a mainstay on Android phones. Instead of tapping out your texts letter by letter, you can drag your finger over them without lifting it. The end result is that you get your message out much more quickly.

iPhone5 capacity(Flickr via johnmuk)SD card support for extra storage

We’d like to be able to extend our device’s storage capability beyond the 64 GB maximum. History suggests that external SD card support isn’t going to be in a mobile Apple device any time soon.

iphone5 capacity, Steve Jobs(MadeMan)A 128 GB option

The iPod Classic offered users 160 GB of music and video capacity. Many people (ourselves included) had no problem filling it right up.

Now that the iPhone is an easy replacement for your old iPod, we’d love to be able to carry the same amount of content around with us without having to pick and choose what stays at home.

iPhone5 dock(Apple)Non-proprietary dock connection

We’ve never understood why our iPhones can’t use a standard USB port and a standard USB cable to sync. Now the iPhone 5 introduces a new micro-dock connection requiring the use of its own special cable.

If you want to use your old sync cables, you have to buy this $29 adapter.

iPhone5 cable(Apple)A micro-HDMI port

Once again, if you want to get video off of your phone, it requires the use of a special adapter. (Unless you buy a $99 Apple TV.) The Kindle Fire HD and several Android phones use a micro-HDMI port, letting you run a cable straight from your tablet to the television.

This makes it easier, better, and more affordable for the user.

iPhone5Replaceable battery

The battery life on the iPhone 5 has seen some nice improvements, but for the power users who are glued to their phones all day, it won’t suffice.

We’d love to be able to carry an additional fully-charged iPhone battery that we could pop in whenever the first one bites the dust.

(Ellis Hamburger, Business Insider) While we’re at it, better battery life!

The iPhone 5′s battery life is about the same as the iPhone 4S’. Yes, it has a bigger battery, but the new 4G LTE radio and bigger screen use up a lot of that extra power. We wish Apple had included a better battery in the iPhone 5 like the one on Motorola’s Droid Razr Maxx. The Razr Maxx can last several hours longer than the iPhone 5.

………………………………………….

Come to think of it, no matter how packed with features the upgraded gadget is, no matter how this comes fully loaded with applications, one can’t really have it all.  If the thing can do all, there will be no competition among brands of companies. If one need not to ask for more, there will never be upgrades. Change is constant so long before those people gets tired of fidgeting iPhone5 in their hands, before we know it, launching of iPhone6 is scheduled. As the saying goes, “Nobody is Perfect” and so are the gadgets.

Anyone would notice that Filipinos still smile even a midst a calamity.  This is one of the best characters of Filipinos, we still smile and laugh even when we are in a bad situation.

On August 7, 2012, the country was hit by a Monsoon wind (Habagat) and it was terrible and left a great disaster.  I live in Pasig and it is one of the most affected areas (state of calamity).

Flooding and having to fight heavy downpour without even a typhoon is not funny, not a happy thing and not even good to laugh at. But, we can't help it. We are born Filipinos. We live life to the fullest, we always make up something good out of the worst situations. We are naturally joyful people. Regardless of economic problems and natural calamities that nobody can ever avoid, we Filipinos have this attitude that life must go on. My prayers goes out for all those who are suffering in the evacuation centers and to all who lost their loved ones, who has no home to return to when the flood water subsides. I am not wishing for calamities but I would compliment that the best of Filipino people comes out in times of struggle. Come what may. It's MORE FUN in the PHILIPPINES even if it has more FLOODING in the Philippines!!! Mabuhay!

Whether I like or not…. it is time for FACEBOOK TIMELINE!!

Don’t you think the profile owner should have at least a choice with regards to the preference of Facebook Timeline?

I was notified months ago and ignoring it is making me keep my old Facebook profile viewing option, hence I let it stay that way and never click the “Get Timeline Now’ button.

Certainly, not for long. I was out during the day for important errands. I was eager to fire up my computer and get the on-line society active. I am always happy to see the red colored number by the notifications for Facebook. May it be a game invite, an application message, comments and likes prompts, as long as it is a notification, it surely excites me. It means people remember you and left a notification to let you know they drop by or sent you something.

Earlier, I was informed that my Facebook Timeline is ready. I actually don’t like the timeline. I know it needs time for me to get used to the new feature but like others, I just don’t like the TIMELINE. Period.

Prayers for my Country

Typhoons. A calamity that Philippines endures about twenty to thirty times every year. Having most of it deadly and destructive is a scenario feared by Filipinos specially those who reside in greater Manila Area and in Northern Luzon.

I grew up down South in a province where typhoon never gets to hit. We were able to experience heavy rains and rare flooding in nearby towns on rainy seasons but luckily there were less or never any casualties. We are experiencing good weather in my location as of the moment that I am typing this blog while the Filipinos up North are fighting against flooding and heavy rains.

Today marks the 72nd hour, or the third day of heavy rain fall pouring over Manila and its nearby cities and towns. I have kept the TV on for the news and updates which I normally don’t do. The news is depressing. There is actually no typhoon reported but the rain of a nonstop downpour is a killer.

Heavy rains continued to pour and the worsts hit parts of Manila on areas where less fortunate lives, where there is a lot, say millions of slum dwellers have built homes along riverbanks, the swampy surrounds of major city rivers, canals and other areas susceptible to flooding.

The death count is rising, millions of my fellow Filipino people have lost their homes and livelihood. Pregnant women giving birth in the middle of evacuation, children getting sick everywhere, the government is working hard, the rescuers getting exhausted already, yet, nobody, no one can ever stop the rain.

My country needs your prayers.

My country needs your help.

A lot of my subscribers are fairly new bloggers  (which, I suspect, is why they subscribe here - they don't know any better).

Thank you, new subscribers, for subscribing, however misguided you may be.

Formalities over and naming no names, I have noticed some common errors on my visits to your new blogs, and I thought I would give you some tips that I wish had been given to me early on in my own blogging career:

Eleven Months, two weeks, three days and eleven hours since the first time I switched to Wordpress for my blog and I am still a newbie. I learned a thing or two but helpful tips from one of the great bloggers that I followed is a present under the tree. I noticed a lot of new bloggers have followed my blog to which I am deeply honored. I would like to share to you this awesome tips from The Laughing Housewife- Tilly Bud. Drop her site a visit too and you will never regret the day you started reading her posts!

Have you ever been cheated????

For over three weeks now, I took time following and  reading the reports about Twilight star’s cheating scandal. Yes, I am talking about Kristen Stewart who was caught cheating on Robert Pattinson with her Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Sanders, that left Twilight actress  “devastated” for jeopardizing her relationship with her longtime boyfriend. –So the reports have said.

Longtime Boyfriend? I didn’t know that! I mean they are good to look at together. And the chemistry is undeniably hot! Only because they tried to be discrete and confidential about it, and only to finally admit that they have been seriously involve after the pictures of Kristen and Rupert has gone public.

Don’t panic. I am not turning into a showbiz reporter, nor a Hollywood columnist. I am not interested in other people’s affairs specially if they don’t know me. Well, let me rephrase that.

I don’t have the habit of sticking my nose into other people’s lives. Which is actually telling the same thing I’ve said before that. Okay… what I actually mean is, I read their stories and get the information. It is not because they are such big stars but because they are actually fussing and making such a big deal about it. Hellowww!!! It is Hollywood, cheating is common and it is not  world record breaking event.

They were agitated about how devastated and guilty Kristen is, and sympathetic of how Robert Pattinson would handle the betrayal and how Rupert’s wife and the rest of the family will be able to cope up and recover of such world-shakin’ scandal. But then again, they are big stars, so that alone gives them the right to public attention. Their fans should know and the fans’ points of view shall be taken into consideration. Yeah, Right.

What about regular people?

Exactly. What about the ordinary couples who doesn’t have paparazzi following and stalking them? What about the relationships who were not subjects of choice of the camera?

Have you been cheated?

Yes. And I admit the hurt and pain is unbearable. The crazy, confusing, devastating, overwhelming, shattering, painful and degrading feeling of betrayal is unbearable.

How did you find out?

That is simple. I don’t need paparazzi to secretly snap pictures for evidence. I have eyes. They might be defective since I am wearing glasses ever since fourth grade but I can see what needs to be seen.

Did you have a hard time going through it?

NO. I have VERY hard time.

How are you doing now?

Oh I’ve moved on. That was easy. Dump the cheater. Happiness is a choice. So, as all of you can see, I never regret the period of being broken . Because it just made way for me to have a slot in the podium of life’s happiness.

Did you forgive and forget?

Good question! Of course I forgive! Why not? What am I-God?; Forget? I don’t think so but like I said it is a thankful-unforgettable-kind-of–not–forgetting. Blessing in disguise in other words.

What am I really trying to say is, Cheating is happening all over the world. I experienced what it feels like being cheated therefore I will never do it to the person who didn’t do anything but love me and cares for me like a queen.

The logic is plain and simple. Once a cheater always a cheater.  There are aspects to consider and I am aware of that. If the cheater did it once-that is more than enough. Forgiveness is a virtue. If not done again, well and good. If there is a second round, then I rest my case.

I guess I made myself a celebrity with this post. I was interviewed by no other than myself. Weird huh! So let me turn the camera to the majority of the non-celebrity public. The hot seat is ready for you and the camera starts rolling.

Have you ever been cheated? Would you like to tell me about it?

Aquino and the Media

I recently reblogged a very amusing post from one of my favorite bloggers Professional Heckler – an amazingly smart humor blogger from the Philippines. In his post entitled;

Dear Charo

where he related in his own funny yet somewhat real version of the incident during 25th Anniversary Celebration of TV Patrol, I found myself following the the series of controversial whenever TV has a chance to talk about it.

Opening Yahoo homepage, I saw their poll featuring President Aquino’s expression of his bruised ego towards the media people, specifically TV-Patrol’s anchor and previous Vice President of the country Noli de Castro.

pnoy

It seems like more people feel for the President rather than ex-VP. Shouldn’t this be a wake up call for ABS-CBN regarding the old issue about delivering biased news reports?

I doubt it if I will ever get to hear comments from Ex-VP regarding this, besides he is good at never saying anything and keeping things quiet. He has been like that since his VP days. What else is new.
